Playing online casino games is supposed to have fun. But never bet with money you can afford to lose. Or you will be the next Tom. Tom who? You should ask. Tom is the guy who lost 1 billion game gold when trying out a MMO trading card game, which sparked an alleged 3 billion game gold extortion plot against himself and faced charges of a violation of computer security because fingers were pointed at him in an cyber crime investigation. He was believed to hire hackers to make illegal intrusion of computer systems via the network. He will be in prison over the following six months.

Building his reputation as a hard core player, Tom has racked up tons of fun by playing different genres of MMO games. Last year, his addition to MMO games was getting serious and harmful. After he lost 1 billion game gold in a MMO trading card game, he failed to overcome the pain of frustration provoked by money he lost. He was getting hooked up to this game not because it was fun but because he wanted his money back. However, he only had money burn in his pocket.

His addiction fever must have him "blitzed" out of mind. He called the game company and asked for compensation of 3 billion game gold. Or he will bring the company's game servers under fire. The infuriating extortioner was hit the ceiling after he got rejection from the company and swore to revenge

Hackers hired for attack

If someone decides to stoop to new low, he will plunge into a world of criminals without hesitation. Tom was seeking help from a hacker, John. John launched attacks against the company's servers two times. But there was no serious damage caused to the company. One month later, Tom asked John to crash the servers again.

However this time, Tom made up his mind to have pace of change. To establish new standard of "manhood", he confessed his crime to the game company and gave a detailed account of his hack attempts. He offered price for stopping hacking endeavors and left a phone number to call him at if the game company agreed to pay him 3 billion game gold. It didn't take long time for the game company to call him back and promise to give him 0.5 billion game gold as the first installment of an agreed 3 billion payment. The rest of money will go into his pocket in future. Tom had fallen into the trap of greed and found it hard to accept it. So both sides failed to reach an agreement.

70 thousand dollars of loss inflicted to the game company

Striving to get a leg up on revenge mission, Tom manipulated John to unleash even more destructive attacks via DDOS tools. As if that was not enough, he even got extra hands, another hacker named Kiddy who was introduced to Tom by his cyber friend Jason to attack the game company's servers.

There must be too much drama for the game company to handle with. This company's servers got DDOS and CCS attacks continually from John and Kiddy. When the company found their servers were open up to a new world of vulnerability, things were getting south. Their official website was suffering fierce hack attack, servers crashed and login failed. Losses stacked up as server attack got intensified and more harsh. It has been reported the game company lost more than 70 thousand dollars.

The game company finally decided to resort to law. They called the cops. The conducted investigation involved a trio of criminals. Instead of receiving money, Tom, John and Kiddy received lessons in karma. They were charged with a violation of computer security. Tom was thrown into prison and will be there for 6 months. John and Kiddy will be on probation for six months.
